There is no shame in busting this bad-boy out in summer if you find yourself still feeling the chill in your spring/summer suit; warmth is a personal thing. Get the thickness that's right for you.
Winter suits will fit noticably tighter due to its thicker neoprene. Try not to convince yourself its too small for you before getting the whole suit on, large air pockets are still a big no-no. If these fill up with water (especially in the winter) you'll definitely not feel toastie!
If you're prone to getting the dreaded "brain-freeze" then fear not! These suits can be found in styles that come fitted with a thermal hood!
